About the UGREEN CM297 (70444)
The UGREEN CM297 is a USB-C male to HDMI female video adapter supporting HDMI 2.0, resolutions up to 3840 × 2160 at 60Hz and 2K at 144Hz on compatible equipment. It also supports HDR, digital audio output and mirror or extended desktop modes. The adapter works with compatible USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and Thunderbolt video-output devices, using a one-way signal path from USB-C source to HDMI display. Its aluminum housing and braided cable provide a compact solution for external display connectivity.
Design & Performance
4K UHD Resolution at 60Hz
The UGREEN CM297 supports HDMI video output up to 4K UHD at 60Hz, delivering detailed images on compatible televisions, monitors and projectors. This makes it useful for watching high-resolution videos, displaying detailed documents and working with larger screens.
Achieving 4K@60Hz requires a compatible USB-C video source, HDMI display and suitable HDMI cable. The actual output resolution and refresh rate depend on the capabilities of the connected equipment.
HDMI 2.0 and High-Refresh-Rate Display Support
The adapter uses HDMI 2.0 and supports up to 2K@144Hz on compatible devices and displays. This offers an additional option for users with high-refresh-rate monitors who prefer smoother on-screen motion.
Available refresh rates depend on the source device, display capabilities, cable and selected resolution. The adapter does not increase the maximum refresh rate supported by a monitor or computer.
HDR Video and Digital Audio Transmission
The CM297 supports High Dynamic Range video output, allowing compatible HDR content to display with improved contrast and tonal detail when the source and display support HDR. It also carries digital audio alongside video through the HDMI connection.
For audio playback, select the HDMI display as the output device when required by the operating system. HDR availability depends on the source content, graphics hardware, system settings and display compatibility.
USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode Compatibility
The adapter connects through a USB-C male connector and works with compatible devices supporting DisplayPort Alternate Mode or Thunderbolt video output. Supported device categories include selected MacBooks, Windows laptops, USB-C tablets and smartphones with external display capability.
A USB-C connector alone does not guarantee video output. USB-C ports that support charging or data only cannot provide HDMI video through this adapter. The signal direction is USB-C source to HDMI display only, so reverse HDMI-to-USB-C conversion is not supported.
Mirror and Extended Display Modes
The UGREEN CM297 supports display mirroring and extended desktop operation on compatible host systems. Mirroring is useful for showing the same presentation or video on an external display, while extended mode can provide additional workspace for documents and applications.
The available display modes depend on the host computer’s graphics capabilities and operating system. This adapter provides one HDMI output and does not independently support multiple external monitors.
Portable Aluminum Housing and Plug-and-Play Design
The CM297 features an aluminum adapter housing and a short braided cable, making it convenient to carry with a laptop or tablet. Its compact construction is suitable for office desks, meeting rooms, classrooms and travel setups.
The adapter is designed for plug-and-play use without a dedicated adapter driver on supported systems. Its VL100 and PS176 chipsets handle video conversion, while the HDMI female port allows connection to a compatible HDMI cable and display.
